I really dislike what it stands for, but hate that it's being banned....


I grew up in Georgia, and really liked the idea of the confederate flag being on my state flag. Until I was told (and verified the fact) that the version of the flag at the time was adopted in 1956, in response to the civil rights movement. That was a turning point for me.

However, having said that, I'm opposed to its bannination. People have a right to speak their mind, and if they want to fly that flag, knowing how it is perceived (and rightfully so, given the information in the above paragraph), then that is their right. Just as other people have the right to react to that statement, in any non-violent way they wish.
